Test audiences are good for making your film appeal to broad and different audiences rather than just the filmmaker.

- Is it too violent?
- Is it scary enough or too scary? (thriller / horror)
- Is it uplighting or inspiring enough? (drama)
- Is it fun to watch or too thought-provoking
- Is it too funny or funny enough (comedy)
- Does it make sense?
It's valuable to the people working in marketing for you film and they can figure out whether your film is currently working for your target audience
People are recruited online to attend test screenings. In the United States, the test screenings take place well outside Hollywood for more populist, authentic, and less biased responses.
